N.Z. Rifle Association Meating.

[Pee Pbess Association.J

Auckland, Yesterday.

AH arrangements are now complete. The range is splendidly situated, and easy of access by train from town. Owing to the size of the ground the number of targets to ~e used lias been reduced, and only 14 will be erected, whereas there were 24 at. the last meeting at Dunedin. This reduced number will prolong the shooting a day or two, and it will be about to-morrow week before the championships will be known. The total numLii- of entries is^about 170, and almost all the representatives are here. The proportion of riflemen to carbines is over three to two. Dissatisfaction is ex pressed by the visitiug representatives at the small amount collected in Auckland, it being only £160. The committee, however," have made another start -at canvassing, and it is hoped this sum will be augmented by an additional £200. A meeting of the Council of the N.Z. Bifle Association W£B held to-tight. A

desultory conversation took place over the j accounts of. the Dunedin meeting, and especially with reference to the amount of commission drawn by Mr Smith, the secretary at Dunedin, it being mentioned, that he had overdrawn his commission by £43. After discussion, the following resolution was carried : " That a committee of five members be elected from the Executive to prepare a rough balancesheet to be submitted to a general meeting of the members to be held during the week." Exception was taken to the employment of Wellington register-keepers and markers as leading to increased ex* penditure. It was decided to commence firing at 9 o'clock on each morning.
