The Marchioness of Normanby, who bas been indispos i since the 3rd inst., is progressing favorably towards recovery.
Sydney, Yesterday. In the Legislative Assembly to-night Government announced thai, the taxation proposals made by the Treasurer in his Budget SUtenient had been withdrawn, except in so far as an increased duty on tobacco was concerned. Government propose to meet the expected deficiency in the revenue by retrenchment to the extent of thrae quarters of a million ster» ling. In addition to this they believe that the Customs revenue will" show an increase of £170,010 sterling duriug the year.
