EYENING- STAB OFFICE, ! Tuesday, February 12, 1884: ! LABOUR REPORT. -JR. M. Heighton and Co., 177 Queen street, Auckland, report as follows :—Owing to the arrival of the s.s. Doric it has enabled us to complete some of our standing orders, and business has been active. The new arrivals by the Doric are superior to the previous arrivals. Women servants ere still ecarco. The engagements are as follows:—Manied couples £75 to £80, farm hands 15s to 253 milkers 103 to 15s, waiters and hotelmen 23a, grooms and gardeners 20a to 35s and found, bakers' assistants 15s to 30s and found, cooks 25s to 40s, sforemen £2, clerks 10s to 50s, laborers 6s to,Bs per day, bush hands 6s to 7s per day, cabinetmakers 7s to 12s, station hands £40 to £52, boys at current wages, women servants (cooks) 14s to 20s, general eervanls 8a to 14s, housemaids 8s to 12s, nurse girls 58 to Bs, housekeepers £26 to £52, ladies' companions, 7s to ICa per week. We have men servants waiting employment.
