GISBORNE.
Earthquake.
This day.
There was a sharp shock of earthquake at 11.20, and a very severe one at 2.20 this morning. It caused much alarm, rang the firebell, hotel bells, stopped clocks, and induced a fealing of nausea, like sea-sickness, The shock lasted half a minute.
