The Customs revenue for the colony was £122,198 12s, as against £123,950 8s for the corresponding month of last year ; all. the returns show an increase on the amounts collected in December. For last month the principal amounts were— Auckland, £26,710 3s 3d; Wellington, £19,93014s 2d ; Dunedin, £37,26315s 4d; and for Christchurch, £19,411 Is sd. The beer duty collected last month was £4335 2s lOd, and for the corresponding month of 1883 £6227 Is Bd. The following are the amounts collected at the principal ports iast month :—Auckland, £1079 10s sd; Christchurch, £981 3s 2d ; Dunediu, £ICSB 16s 9d ; Wellington, £382 10s Id. The entries for the New Zealand Eifle Association's meeting at Auckland are going in freely. The local secretary at Auckland reports thata large sum is already subscribed, and it is believed that the prize money published will be considerably increased. It is intended to use a telephone from the butts to the shooting mounds.

The Hon. Mrßryce has received a telegram from Kawhia stating that Tawhiao has decided on visiting Kawhia, and also that he would probably take a trip to England shortly. A boy, nine years of age, named Thomas Benge.of Mungaroa, was drowned in the Hutt river. While crossing a ford to fetch cattle the current swept him away.
