Six young ladies took the " black veil " on Saturday at the Convent, atPonsonby. Bishop Luck officiated, assisted by three priests.

Edwards repudiated the debt, and said a blank cheque produced, with his signature, was a forgery. Hjs Worship nonsuited the plaintiff with costs £3 13s, Remarking that the whole thing was unsatisfactory. Judge Gillies, in opening the Criminal Sessions of the Supreme Cpurt this morning, said the calendar was aa extremely light one, there being only thirteen cages, in which thirteen persons are chafgejL The offences were also light, being ordinary larcenies, fojir natives charged with sheep stealing, one ease of housebreaking, ope of forgery, and one of shooftng a'jb a steer. John ,Cagk, an old mac, was found guilty of stealing articles of clothing, an/1 was seat to prison for ]two years.
