NEW PRINCE IMPERIAL.
The No. 2 reef in the eastern drive at No. 5 level has been disturbed by heady ground for tbe past few. feetj and has been very small. The country in the face is good, and the reef appears to. be. again opening out. There are three stopes in progress on this reef on the western side of the break, all of which are yielding excellent crushing dirt, with occasional small parcels of picked stone. There is 10 feet of ground to take out above the back of the highest stope before the block is finished. There are only about twc.thirds of the men at work yet. The Alburnia and Grolden Crown mills are crushing on this company's quartz, there still being eight months of the. original lease at the former battery to run.
DEEP LEVEL CROSS
The rise from the 640 ft. level is up about 54ft., and the winze from No. 5 level is down 126 ft, thus leaving only 30ft. to connect. As four shifts are employed in the rise and two in the winze, this should be accomplished easily ia a Toftnight, ot even less. The south crosscut at the 640 ft. level is to be put in repair at once.
QUEEN OF BEAUTY.
The alterations to the clutch gear of the winding engine have been completed, and the crosscuts at Nos. 8 arid 10 levels are again in progress. In the former great difficulty is experienced ia keeping a candle alight, on accountof the large quantity of gas issuing from the ground. v
DABWIN,
The western drive on the reef is being pushed ahead as usual, the quartz varying from 2to 3 feet in width. A little .gold was seen at last breaking, and the minerals continue very favorable, .
MOANATAIRI EXTENDED.
The contractors for sinking the shaft have stopped work, owing to the imflux of water being more than, they could bale, and operations will now be at a standstill until the machinery, whichshouldbe here in abont a month, ia erected. There is only 20ft. to sink before opening out. *
