Messrs Ireland Fraserand Cos. circular reports the following clearances of sugar to the New Zealand ports : Lyttelton, 257 tons ; Port Chalmers, 238; Auckland, 237 ; Wellington, 400. Loadiog for Dunedin, 900 tons, freight, New Zealand 40. - Melbottbne, December 31.
The police to-day made a raid upon several magsmen and others suspected of of belonging to the criminal class in this city, and arrested thirteen persons. later-Colonial Cricket. The Inter-Colonial cricket match was resumed to-day, and the Victorians, in their second innings, scored the required number of runs (139) for the loss of seven wickets, snd thus won the match by 3 wickets. McDonnell/with 42, was.the highest scorer. s .•■ ; ; Melbourne, Yesterday. Cricket. A cricket match between the Australian team about to proceed to England and a combined team of Australia commenced here to day. The former went first to the wickets, and at the close of the day's play had lost three wickets for 328 runs. The following are the scores:—Bannerman, , caught 11; Giffen, bowled, 53; Murdoch, not out, 145; MacDonnell,. caught, 111: Bonnor, not out, 2; extras, 6 ; total for three wickets, 328. The Revenue. The Victorian revenue for the quarter ended' December 31st, has been found to amount to £1,470,000, being an increase of £23,000, compared with the corresponding quarter of last year. During the same period the revenue from Customs has decreased £7,400, that from land increased £3 300, and from railways increased £64,000. The receipts from excise show a decrease of £9COO, and from territorial revenue, £5,800. The Australasian's agricultural reporter estimates the yield of wheat for the present season in Victoria at 15,000,000 bushels, being an average of 14 s»6th bushels per -'acre. The area under crop is 1,010,000 acres, and the surplus available for export is estimated at 8,400,000 bushels. ' :' M
