Aebangements have been completed by which the Deep Level Cross GLM.Co. have purchased the Alburnia 23<head battery, with all the gear, &c, for £1250. Oar readers will remember that the battery was sold to the New Prince .Imperial G.M.Co. a few months back, but we understand that the money not having been paid within a stipulated time, owing to a disagreement re the title, the Bank pressed the Albuinia company, who thereupon closed with the Deep Level Cross for the sum mentioned. The battery is within 30 yards of the Big Pump brace, from which, a. tramway leads to hoppers at the back of the mill, and as the Cross intends tc in future work through the Big Pump, all carting will very Bhortly be done away with. This will enable low grade dirt to be treated profitably.
Mb F.W. Milliß opened last night in the Academy of Music in his very amusing and original entertainment entitled " Whimsical" ities of the Whimsical." There was a fair house, which would have been better had the various excursionists arrived ut their homes earlier. The impersonations by this rising young star are really wonderful, and one continued ripple of merriment, occasionally breaking into a wavo of laughter, is -the result of his entertainment. His variety is charming, and the street waif, the young scapegrace, Mr Muldoon, and poor old " Pap-and-candle " are very happy representations. As a ventriloquist Mr Millie is really good, and his dialectic versatility is quite on a par with his ventriloquial powers. All who desire a good night's amusement should not fail to pay the Academy a visit to-night, when Mr Millis appears for the last time here.
