A retorting took place this morning for the yield of 66|ozs gold, which was reduced on molting to 65ozs ldwt. This is from . 68 tons of general dirt and 401bs of picked stone and specimens, chiefly obtained froia " the workings on No. 9 reef at and above the 132 ft. levei, Heldt's section. It ia payable, representing only three weeks.' operations., - - ■ QUEEN OF BEA.TJTY. At No. 10 level a( little water is issuing from the face of the crosscut. This may come from the reef, but the manager estimates he has nearly 20 feet yet. to' drive before reaching it. No. 8 level south crosscut is in progress as usual. The country is favorable, but is full of gas, which issues from the cracks - in such quantities that notwithstanding a strong ourrent of air supplied by the boxes, the men find it difficult to keep a~ '■ candle burning.
