The Hod. Mr Bolleston will probably leave here for Kawhia on Friday week. He will be accompanied by the SurveyorGenera], and at Kawhia will meet Mr Percy Smith, Assistant- Surveyor for Auckland, when a survey of the land about to be sold at Kawhia will be completed.
An elderly woman named Hamlin died at the hospital under peculiar circumstances last night. She is a resident of Stokes 1 Valley, Upper Hutt, and on the 30th ult, when entering her house; a lad fired a gun ; there was no shot in the quo, but some powder lodged in her left arm above the wrist. Amputation was found to be necessary, but the poor old lady succumbed under the operation. She was aged 70. Ifc is not yet known under what circumstances the gun was fired. The police have gone out.
