The Hon. R. B. Leefe, member of the Legislative Council, Fiji, Lid an interview with Major. Atkinson for the purpose of representing to him* the desire of the Europeans in Fiji for-inrorporationoosf s the islands with the colony of Hew Zealand/

Major Atkinson leaves for New Zealand by the Hauroto, on the 18th, and Mr Whitaker by the Wairarapa, on the 20th.

At this afternoon's sitting of the Convention, Mr Whitaker gave notice of motion that steps should be taken to prevent the landing of criminals in the colonies. The motion of Mr Dibbs, Colonial Treasurer of New South Wales, requiring the various Governments to be pleased to submit to their several Legislatures the various resolutions that may be come to by Convention was agreed to, and that of Mr Giblin, Premier of Tasmania, for the appointment of the Premiers of Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland, and New Zealand, a.s a committee to c::rry out the object of, and summonthei- Conference when necessary, was also adopted.
