NEW PRINCE IMPERIAL.

The stopes west of the break are improving in appearance, and 201bs. specimens came to hand since last issue, The manager intends to start driving on No. 1 reef at No. 5 level from the Cross boundary at an early date. This should open up a profitable block, as excellent crushing dirt was taken from this vicinity at No. 4 level. Two or three feet of the reef were broken down at No. 3 level today, aad gold was visible in the quart?!. DAEWIN. Crushing was started at 11 o'clock this morning at the Queen of Beauty battery, but at 2 o'clock the battery stopped j owing to the water supply not sufficient to provide motive power. The boulders continue troublesome in the crosscut, and the contractors, after persevering for some time against adverse circumstances, threw up the contract, and the crosscut is at present being driven by wages men. Although retarding pro- j gress, this hard • rock may bo a•] good sign, and an excellent channel of country favorable for gold be met beyond it. Not a few of the most experienced miners prefer hard ground to be in the vicinity. Hard bars accompany the Prince Imperial specimen leader. Some little leaders which branch off from the Eed Queen leader are now being prospected from the stopes with a view to | increasing the output of quartz. NE^ DIAMOND. In driving alongside the reef (last night's I shift) a stringer carrying strong colors of gold, striking into the reef, was come across. The reef is improving in size, and carrying good minerals.
