This day. % Arrived : Superior, barque, and Gazelle, from the Mauritius. . Peter Sherwiri, for many years a prominent figure, in municipal politics^ died suddenly to-day. At an inquest held on the body of Win. Johnston, the evidence showed that the deceased was in a very depressed state of mind, consequent on his inability to obtain employment, aad he was.indebted to the Postal Department for £2 15s for stamps, and could not pay the amount. The verdict :waß" Suicide* by strychnine, while temporarily insane."
