AUCKLAND.
This day.
Building operations have commenced at the Surrey Hills estate, a quantity of timber having been laid down on one of the allotments near Ponsonby Boad, with a view to the immediate erection of a villa residence. Three denominations hare been negotiating for future church sites on the estate.
Mr Waddell, baker, was to-day returned unopposed as Mayor of Auckland, and Mr D. H. McKenzie as Mayor of Parnell.
