This day,
A poll was taken yesterday'? on r two questions,—No. 1 being whether the burgesses were in favor of a number of unsold town sections, which have been used as a racecourse, being Grown granted to the Borough, with power to lease for twenty-one years as a whole for horseracing, cricket, building, or other purposes; or (2), whether the sections should be made over in perpetuity as a reserve of the Taranaki Jockey Club, the Taranaki Agricultural Society, and as gonoral recreation grounds. The result of the polling was: — Crown granting to Borough, 270; against, 15. Over three hundred Waikato Maoris passed through the town early yesterday morning.
