This day. A. fire broke out at 1 o'clock this morningin Hatton, King, and Co.'s confectionery factory, Hanover street. The front part of the building was completely gutted, and a small quantity of stock saved. No explanation as to the origin of the fire can be given, but it is supposed that it must have been caused by a spark from the stove. The properly is insured for £1200, the insurances being—London and Lancashire £240 on the building, and on the plant and machinery £480 in the Equitable, and the same in.the Mutual. Mr Hatton states that the building 'was over-insured, but the stock and plant are worth nearly £3000. He expects the firm to lose heavily.
