WOMEN AT A PRIZE FIGHT.

A prize fight which took pJUee on tlwh 24th of July near Nanticoke, in PenniyU vania was interrupted voder circucastancea of a remarkable character. The principal! were a saloon-keeper, by name Paddy O'Brien, and Mike Breeze a miner. The fight was conducted according to what are known as " the rules of the Marqueas; of Queensbury," and the stakes were for §500. Intense intrest was taken in tho affair, which was witnessed by an immense crowd of spectators. Eleven rounds had been fought, and both pugilists had , been badly punished, when all of a sadden a large body of women broke into the ring, brandishing knives and pistols. The excitement was intense. The pugilists stood glaring at each other, the women glared at the pulgilists, and the outside mob glared at the women. It was however evident that the women were in earnest, and armed as they were no one dared to interfere witt them. They sternly announced their intenV*W tion to put a stop to the fight. After a brief consulation between the principals and their backers, it was decided that it was advisable to obey the command of the women, and the contest came to an end. One of the seconds was rather severely injured by a" prod "from a pit eh fork/inflicted by the gentle hands of a middleaged woman while he was leaving the ring, as a protest agaiust the brutal exhibition in which he had taken part.
