The No. 2 reef was again broken down to»day in the western drive at N0."3 level The quartz is, so far as could be judged— the men not having broken it all down at the time of my visit—about 18 inches wide. It carries excellent mineral mdi cations, and showed colors and dabs of gold. • A change for the bqtter is notice j able in-the country in the dig, the sand ' stone being whiter in color, and also of a more blocky nature. No breaking down has yefc taken placoin the winze com menced at No. 2 level west of the crossoat. THAMES GOLDEN CROWN. Cleaning up for tbe month to day produced the payable return of 113ozs 15 iwts melted gold, for which 90 tons of quartz were crashed, tbe output from the stopes on the leaderß near the shaft at the 100 ft. level. WAIOTAHI. Cleaning up and retorting for the month took place to-day for the good return of 260^-ozs retorted (2560zs 15dwts melted; gold, for which a total of 240 tons of general dirt has been passed through the mill. WAITEKAUEI. Mr Kalph arrived in town to-day, . -^bringing with him two tributers' parcels *?■•' of gold. That for; Goohan and party weighed 48ozs, and was the yield of 25 tons dirt from a branch leader ; ILieley's crushing of 30 tons from the tributers reef gave the good return of 75ozs Sdwts gold-. This party is sinking a winze, and is carrying down good payable gold. Huntly and Skene, of the Waitekauri United claim, have about ICOlbs picked stone on hand, and will start crushing on Monday next. They will treat a large parcel, probably 100 tons. GOLD RETUENS. Magnolia.—Moase and party, tributers, have crushed 2 loads of dirt for the good return of 9ozs. Bdwts. gold. City or Manchestbb.—Scott and party, proprietors, have banked 13ozs. 15dwts. gold. . Kubanui Hill.—A crushing of 24lbs specimens for Le Maequais and party has yielded 44ozs 17dwts. gold.
