Auckland, This day. Hunt Club Race Mooting.

Huedi.es, 2 miles. —Harkaway (Taylor), 1; Greyhound (Tonks), 2. Harlequin and Fly were scratched. Betting, 3to 1 on Harkaway. Greyhound led to the first hurdle, when he baulked, and Harkaway had it all his own way throughout; he was as fit as a fiddle, and took all the jumps splendidly. Greyhound did not make any other mistakes, but was completely outpaced, the .North Shore crack winning (hard held) by six lengths. Totalisator (10s ticket), dividend 14s.

Hunt Club Steeplechase.—Chandler, 13at, 1; Sir Garnet, 13st, 2; King Don, 13st, 3. The following also ran : General, 13st; St. Swithin, 13st; Daybreak, 13st; and Comus, 13st. Lone Hand, Tearaway, and Tricotrin were scratched. The betting was 6 to 4 on Chandler, 4 to 1 on St. Swithin and King Don, 10 to 1 on the rest. Chandler got away with a lead, followed by St. Swithin, the rest tailing out. Chandler had four lengths of a lead coming down the hill, and maintained it till he passed the stand, but baulked at the double jump, where also General baulked. Chandler soon got ever, and, still leading, got over the stone wall, closely followed by Garnet, King Don third. King Don took the second place at the back of the course, where Chandler had 15 lengths lead. The second time past the stand Chandler still kept the lead, Don second, and Garnet third. All the other horses made mistakes. Chandler eventually won by 20 lengths, hard held; Garnet second, and Don four lengths behind. Totalisator, dividend 21s.
