TIMARU.
This day. Fatal Accident. A man named Alex. Sutherland, aged 40, unmarried, was run over by a ballast wagon on the Albury Extension line yesterday. He was. brought to Timaru by a special train, when the amputation of his leg close to the hip joint was found neces*. sary. The operation was performed at the hospital, but the unfortunate maD, owing to loss of blood on the journey, end the shock to the system, survived the operation only four hours.
