Wesleyan Church Quarterly Meeting.
The Upper Thames Wesleyan Circuit quarterly meeting was held in the Paeroa Church on the 24th inst. The Her. Henry Bull presided. There were also present the Rev. Gr. T. Marshall, and Messrs Tetley, Phillips, Bennett, and Bramley. The returns showed an increase of fire church members, with three on probation for membership. The Sabbath schools were also reported to be in a prosperous condition. Vigorous efforts are being made throughout thedistrietfor the Circuit Fund Bazaar, to be held in December next at To Aroha. The circuit income for the quarter, inclusive of donations for the new horse purchased a few months ago, was £58 19s sd, and the expenditure £53 8s 4d, —thus yielding a few pounds towards the reduction of the circuit debt fund. Mr J. Phillips, senr., proposed to divide the present circuit, as it was too extensive to be worked effectively, and ife was agreed to recommend that Paeroa, with the contiguous places, be formed into a Home Mission Station, with a grant of £30 from the Home Mission Fund. N Te Aroha was recommended as a separate circuit^ and Messrs Phillips and Tetley were requested to attend the next district meeting and urge the adoption of these recommendations. Arrangements were finally settled for celebrating the anniversary of the Paeroa Church by an entertainment, the date and particulars to be advertised. ; The Stewards decided to forego their right of nominating the minister for next year, leaving the matter entirely with the Conference. Mr J. James was appointed Sacramental Steward for Te Aroha West, and Mr Bramley Secretary and Steward for the Circuit Auxiliary Home Mission Fund. —Tribune.
