NEW PRINCE IMPERIAL. A stars was made to day to put through the specimens and picked stone on hand, of which there is now a total of 16cwt. The winze below No. 5 level is down about 14ft. It is two or three inches wide, of solid quartz, and carrying good minerals. 1 Several strong colors of gold were seen in breaking it last night, the first noticed since leaving the level. Another small body of quartz, descending vertically, has functioned with the No. 2 close to the bottom of the winze. In the stopes west of the winze a hole has bean put through to the Deep Level Cross winze on the hangingwall leader, and a good draught is now passing through here. The seventh stops is progressing but slowly, owing to its being carried along fully 12ft wide, so as to include all the branches:of the;, reef. Gold is seen freely both in |he ; Eaain reef and smaller leaders. Io r|l^^|;|lh stope the reef is fully-18^ij^ie^jri|[e|j a strong body of quartz. At the break the manager has picked up the liangint; wall leader on the seaward side. It is about 18 inches thick, and showed gold. The ninth stope is within 10 feet of the break, and the tenth is making good progress towards the show of gold left in the back of the ninth. At the eastern Bide of the winze stoping is also in progress, and the reef shows gold each breaking. No. 4 level: Tfre eastern drive pn lso, 1 reef has been resumed, and the Icde in the face is over 4 feet wide, and looking well. The ! stopes on this reef continue about the same, gold being met with in each. DEEP LEVEL CROSS. The winze on the boundary at No. 5 level is down 23 feet. The leader averages , 6 inches in width at the bottom, end gold was seen in it yesterday. The country is ail excellent class of sandstone. The I winze on the foot wall branch of the crossreef is ISift. deep. The quartz in hand is fully a foot in width ; acolor of gold was ceen in it yesterdayr and strong dabs in a smsfl Jeader on the footwsll. The fourth stope" on this branch is about half way along the block, the fifth, on the hangingwall leader, is up to the junction, and the sisthhas just been started from the winze. Colors of gold are seen in all three stopes when taking down the reef. The drive south on the hangingwall branch of the crossreef is jn 20ft. The reef has been, heaved to the left, and, wfceVe picked up on tUe other aide of iide head, is looking' be.ter, a more favorable class of mineral being found in the quartz. From the present strike of this branch, and that of the footwall portion, it appears likely that they will junction ahead of the faco. Only one stope, the fifth, is in progfesf uP°a the foptif»U br&nek, of No.

2 reef. This ief in fifteen feet from the Imperial boundary, aud in breaking down to-day a few pounds of stone were secured, a little gold'being left showing in . the face. The fourth stope here is being carried along the branch of the reef, which was found striking s6uthward beyond a clay head which crossed the leader. This is looking pretty well, ■being about 9 inches wide. Several colors of gold have been seen, the first noticed past the head referred to. Crushing is proceeding afc the Herald mill with 15 head of stamps, 16 hours per day, and the general dirfc is shaping payably.
