Thames Hospital.
The usual monthly meeting of the Committee was held at the County Council Chambers yesterday afternoon. Present: Revs. S. J. Neill (President), O'Reilly, and Barley ; Messrs Carpenter, Deeble, Ehrenfried, Eraser, Hall, Lawlor, Mennie, Osborne, Radford, Renshaw, Veale, Wildman, and McGowan (Vice^ President). An apology for absence was receive:! frona Mr C. Ahier. The House Committee's report was adopted, and the recommendations contained therein referred to the Committee, with power to carry them into effect. The Treasurer's statement of receipts and expenditure was as follows: — Receipts (including Hospital Sunday— Churcfctof England, £7 9s Id ; Bank of New £996 18s 3d) £1019 3s Id. Expenditure (the chief items being Biuk overdraft 31st July, £836 12s lOd; salaries, £63 18s 8d; maintenance, £68 7s 4d; medical comforts, £17 0s 6d) £1019 3s Id.—Assets : Cash balance, £1 4s lOd; balance, £1230 ss'3d. Total, £1231 10s Id.—Liabilities : Bank of New Zealand, £996 18s 3d j salaries, £83 13s lOd ; drugs account already passed, but not paid, £14 10s ; aecouuts pissed for payment this day, 12fch September, £136 Bs. Total, £1231 10a Id.—The statement was received and adopted, and thosalaries and accounts ordered for paymsnt.v The Surgeon reported to the effect that on the 31st July, 1883, there remained in the hospital 15 patients ; that during the month, from the Ist to the 31st August, 17 patients have been admitted, while during that period 16 have besn discharged. Thirty-two patients have been treated as in-patients 4uring *ac month. There is, unfortunately, one death to record, viz., Henry Wood, aged 40, who died from injuries received at the late fire at Parawai. There were remaining on Augu&t 14, 15 patients. The average daily sick during the month .has been 28. The number of attendances in the out-patients' room were 247, the actual number of out-patients being 64. A number of repairs had been effected about the building. There is at present one case of erysipelas which will be discharged in a day or two, and then he urged the room being painted and stopped. It is a small ward habituallyused for cases of that description. There is an absolute necessity of immediate attention being pa:d to this.—The report was received, and the doctor's recommendation left in the hands of the Houss Committee to act upon at their discretion.—-Authority was received from the Colonial Secretary to purchase 12 hair mattresses. Mr Eenshaw moved as follows :—"That in order to give effect to his resolution passed at last meeting of this Committee, it be understood that the officers no%ii§ holding the appointments of surgeon, dispenser, and secretary are now permanently appointed."—After considerable discussion, the motion was put and carried,— Rev. Father O'Reilly immediately gave notice of motion for next meeting as follows :—"That after the next election of the officers of the Hospital the offices be permanent"—The following House Committee was then appointed for the ensuing month :—'Messrs Deeble, Ehrenfried, 0%~ borne, and Radford, and the meeting closed,
