WELLINGTON.
,'■ This day Boiler Explosion. The boiler used for the purpose of driving the wood-cutting machine at S. Brown's wood and coal yard, in Tory street, exploded at one o'clock this afternoon, the concussion being felt over the greater portion of the town. The shed in which the boiler was situated is completely wrecked, and" the large sheets of corrugated iron were carried into the neighboring yards some distance away. A horse standing within five yards of the explosion escaped without injury but the cart was twisted about considerably, one wheel being wrenched off and the other damaged, which renders it unfit for use. The boiler itself is a mass of broken iron, the- parts being torn as if only brown paper, and some of the heavy pacts were lifted to the opposite side of the yards, but fortunately uo person was. hurt. A woman was in the yard picking up wood at the time, but beyond the fright she received no injury. The manager and one of the workmen were in the shed adjoining taking their dinner when the accident occurred, and they in no way can account for the-explosion. A large number of windows were smashed by the concussion.
