The final cleaning up for the month took place last night, and the amalgam from 6cwt specimens and 177 loads of general dirt, 3100ozs, yielded the good return of 1210ozs retorted gold. This^H makes the total retorted return fo^H the month the magnificent one of 3329o^[^^ gold from 28cwt of specimens and 737 loads of general dirt, the largest > yield yet . banked by the company for one, month's work. The manager broke down the No. . 2 reef in the seventh stope, which is jutt through the break, yesterday, and bagged sQlbs specimens, and a further breaking last night gave lewt, gold -being left showing. Both these parcels are included in the month's return.
qUEEN OF BEAUTY. The manager has cut Bice's leader at No. 8 level in the crosscut driven from the footwallol the main reef, near the fiako shaft It is about 4 inches wide, and has shown gold freely. The men are. now driving seaward on it, and it appears to be opening out. The reef stripped in the seaward winze at No. 9 level ia being \ broken down. It is from three to four -* feet wide, and is heavily mineralised. The reef has not yet been ' broken in the leading stope started from the bottom of this winze. In the seaward drive the lode has opened out, and is looking well. A trial parcel will be put through from here next week. Gleaning up and retorting . takes place at the end of next week. CALEDONIAN; Betorting took place to-day at the Herald mill for the payable return of 1560zs gold, which was reduced to 1549Z5, Sdwts on melting. The quantity of quartz crashed was 134 loads of general dirt and 401bs picked stone, all from the Bed Queen cross leader. This is the result, ot two months' work. Crushing is still proceeding with 5 head, which the manager . . will keep going constantly if possible. , -^ LONDON. • .", . ',** The No. 2 roef in the eastern drive'at ■■. No. 3 was broken down yesterday. It" ; averages a foot, in width, and a few colors .-•' ' and dabs of gold were seeu ia it. Another ' small break has just come in the face, but it has not heaved the reef. The winze on No. 1 reef is now being sunk on the hang-. ingwall of the loda, which is not being taken down. A few colors are seen in the hangingwall leader. The cpuntry has' been rather tight lately, but a better class is now coming in at the bottom. No. 4 level has been cleaned out and repaired for a distance of over seventy feet. GOLD BETUBNS. Queen op Beauty.—-Connelly and . party have crushed 13 loads for the return " of 230z% 16dwts gold. Kubanui Hill.—Le Manqua-s and party's crushing from the old stopes gave 9ozs sdwts gold. Adelaide. — The proprietors of this claim have banked lOozs vdwts gold. Moanataibi. — Cox and party have banked 3ozs 7dwts gold.—F. White and party have treated one load of quartz and 13lbg specimens from the Little, and-Good section for the return of .ISozs 13dwta gold.
