Fire at Owharoa.
MrJ. H. Walsh's hotel at Owharoa narrowly escaped destruction by fire through the explosion of a kerosine lamp on Saturday evening last. The fire occurred in a private sitting room about half past eight in the evening, when the inmates were all in another part of t ? building, and it was not noticed until le room iv question was completely filled with smoke and flames. Mr Walsh and some others with the aid of a plentiful supply of wet blankets succeeded in Buppressing the fire, but not before it bad completed the destruction of a handsome suite of furniture, carpets, etc. The building, stock, etc., are all insured in the Victoria Insurance Company.
