MELBouEirE, This day, An extensive forgery has been discovered here, and a warrant has been issued for the arrest of William W bite, a vinegar. manufacturer, who, it is alleged, while ceiving bills in a bonajide way, has forgednumerous oth«p» beating similar dates, and several persons have been victimised. One man has already filed his schedule, as he is unable todistinguish between the genuine and the forged bills. It is believed -that the spurious documents reach a total of fully £BQOO. .White has disappeared. \ J ;j' Sydney, Yesterday. The action agtinsfc the proprietors of the Sydney Morning Herald for contempt of Court in publishing articles reflecting upon the conduct of Mr Justice Innes,>ih connection with the libel action, Anderson v. proprietors of the same journal, was commenced to-day and partly heard, bnt, at the rising of the Court, was adjourned to Monday next, the 20th inst. \
The captain of the Pathan was summoned to-day for neglecting to provide his passengers with proper food, and was sentenced to pay a fine of £10.
