A bomb was exploded to->day in a street of the city, but although there were numbers of people about at the time, no one was injured. In the Legislative Council last night a motion by "Mr Ward in favor of the uniting in general action, of the colonies in regard to New Guinea and New Hebrides, was rejected on a division; the question was opposed by the Government, but at the same time Mr Bray, the Premier, announced that he had accepted the invitation of Victoria to join in the proposed conference on the annexation question. London, August 7/ The appointment of the Bey. Dr Barry to the Metropolitan Bishopric of Sydney, Blew South Wales, has received official confirmation.
In the House of Commons to-day, Mr Gladstone announced that in the course of a recent note regarding the progress of military and judicial reform in Egypt, Lord Dufferin reported that the reorganisation of the Egyptian army was now nearly completed. The reconstruction of the civil police force had, however, proved a more difficult matter, and was in a more backward condition, and that a fair body of Judges had been secured for the administration of justice in the native Law
Courts. * Lon on, August 8. In the House of Commons last night a bill providing, regulations for preventing the spread of cholera within thq city of London, in the event of an outbreak of that disease occurring, finally passed. Madbas, August 7. The revolutionary agitation which for some days past has been actively manifested at Badajoz, and in the surrounding districts, is now rapidly subsiding; and tranquility has been restored. It is not expected that any further outbreak of disloyalty wiHocourat the present lime. Capetown, August 7. Eeports have been received here from Zululand to the effect that Cetewayo is still alive, and was not killed atUlundi as previously stated. The rumors, however, are distrusted, and have not as yet received any reliable confirmation.

London, August 6. In the House of Qpmmonsf Mr Gladstone said the AgentSKGenerals' despatch had not caused the Government to re consider the decision arrived at with respect to the annexation'of New Guinea. A monster meeting of >. Mr Bradlaugh s supporters, numbering forty thousand, has been held in Trafalgar Square. The meeting was an orderly one, and resolutions were passed requesting the Queen to dissolve Parliament. London, August 7. Mr T. M. Healey, M.P. for Monaghan, intends to ask in the House of Commons how many convicts there are in the ParliamentandGovernmentbfNew South Wales. The Annamese are pressing the French garrison at Nam Dinh and Cai Fong, and the French Fleet are prepared to make an attack on Hue, the capital of the Annamese Empire.
Mr Gladstone will shortly leave on a cruise on board Lord Wolverton's yacht. A body of soldiers have been told off to protect.Lord Chief Justice Coleridge at the Bristol azzizes, in consequence of threats which have been made by Fenians. The Hon. Evelyn Ashley, Parliamentary Under-Secretary for the Colonies, justifies the action of Usibepu in the battle against Cetewayo at Ulundi. In the anti- Jewish riot which took place at Skaterinoslav, Southern Russia, last week, one hundred persons were killed and wounded. -__
