Thames Goldfields Hospital.
The regular meeting of the Committee was held yesterday. Present—Revs. S. J. Neill (in the chair), Calder, O'Reilly, Barley, and. Bull, and Messrs Brodie; Deeble, Ehrerifried, Fraser, Hall. Kil~ gour, Lawlor, Marshall, McGowan, Osborne, Kadford, Renshaw, and Stone. Messrs Ahier and Veale sent apologies for non-attendance. The House Committee reported that after enquiring into Dr Callan's complaint re the appointment of surgeon to the feTer hospital, they found that the usual practice had been followed. Bedside cupboards had been provided for patients. Salaries and.
accounts to the amount of £195 53 5d were recommended for payment. The report was adopted. The financial statement was as follows: '—Receipts : To cash balance 30th June, £7 9s 3d; subscriptions, £5 18s; patient' charges, 12s 6d; Bank of N.Z., 31st July, £836 12s lOd; total, £850 12b 7d. Expenditure: By sauries, £72 3s 8d ; insurance £2 5s ; maintenance, £48 2s lid; medical comforts, 16s 4d ; furniture, £2 2s ; drugi and appliances, £15 4s lid; clothing, £2 8s; garden, £1 7s; miscellaneous expenses, 18* 9*; printing, advertisements, &c, 7s 6d; Fever Hospital rent, £9 10s.; ditto repairs,£l3 4s 6d ; cash balance, £3 19s 9d ; bank orerdraft, 30th June, £678 2s 3d ; 'total." £BSO 12s 7d. Assets : Cash balance, £3 19s 9d ; subsidy and deficiency due from Govern* ment,' £1027 18s 6d ; total, £103118s 3d. Liabilities : Bank of New Zealand, £836 12s' lOd ; salaries, £69 8s 4 8d; other accounts, £125 16s 9d ; total, £1031 18s 3d.—Three months' subsidy was now due, and would shortly be to hand. The Surgeon's report of the state of the institution was received and adopted, and a fresh application for a month's wages from a discharged ward^man was not entertained.—The question of appointing per* manently the officers of the Hospital was fully discussed, and a resolution affirming the desirability M abolishing the present system of annual election was carried by a majority of one vote.—The draft rules in connection with the management of the Old Men's Home were referred to the House Committee for consideration.— Messrs Carpenter, Deeble, Renshaw, and Osborne were appointed House .Committee for the month, and the meeting closed. r ■'■"
