Ohinemuri Goldfleld.

(FKOII QUE: OWN COEEESPONDENT).

Paeboa, This day. The present road leading from Mackaytown to Karangahake traverses, certain freehold property belonging to Mr Snodgrass, who, some time since, closed the road in question against all horse and wheeled traffic, and inserted an advertisement in the Hauraki Tribune threatening to prosescute trespassers. Capt. Morris, M.H.R., was communicated with respecting tho above, and he replied yesterday to the effect that Mr Percy Smith had been instructed by Government to hare a road laid off across Snodgrass' property and that Mr Cheal, Government Surveyor, would carry out the work under warrant immediately. ; XAKA.NGAHAKE. Hattbaki G.M.Co,—The tressilwork, which was blown down by the late heavy gale, has been re erected, and appears to be but little the worse for its mishap. Upon the wire section of this company's tramway the travelling wire was found to be by far too cumbrous for the work

required of it, and a smaller and lighter wire is now being substituted, and a few other defects remedied which will render the tramway fit for service in a few days time. The country over which this tramway passes is admirably adapted for a series of self-acting grades of ground tramway, and why' this system was not adopted in preference to the antiquated system now about to be used is a mystery to all beholders who cometh from afar.—Golden Ceown : Driving upon the reef is still being proceeded with, and the stone grows richer and richer as work is continued upon it.— Hidden Tbeastjbe : There is a decided improvement noticeable in the present face of No 1 tunnel, which is now in about 70ft, and the manager expects to meet with the shot of gold every shift. In the Martha section the crosscut was being driven for a distance of 50ft along the course of the reef which carries gold from wall to wall for the whole of that distance, and a fair percentage of the stone broken out shows gold freely.—Dubbo: The reef was met with in the low level on Tuesday last, and so far as it, has been tested has shown itself to be equally as rich as upon the surface.—lvanhoe : The contractors for constructing the tramway^ between this mine and the Hauraki battery, are making good headway, and should the weather hold up they will complete the work in about throe weeks' time. —In the Hetkeat and Southebn Cboss claims the usual work is going on without any material change to note.
