: The footwall branch of No. 2 reef, at No. 5 level was broken down this morning in the second stope, which- has just been started from the Imperial bottbdary, and 3Olbs of specimens were secured.' It is jibout 6 inches in width, and was payable for a considerable distance at and above No. 3 level. ! QUEEN OF ENGLAND. The contractors are continuing the sea* ward drive at No. 3 level on No. 1 reef with four men, and are making good progress, having driven, 16ft this week. The reef was broken down on Thursday. It is about a foot wide, a nice compact lode, and is carrying good minerals. The quartz is being saved for crushing. The country in the dig shows a considerable improvement since starting. It is now a good white class of sandstone, with a number of black veins running through it. Small stringers of quartz are also found. A hard cab is now on the footwall of the reef, and this has made progress slower forthe past shift or..two. f * \ BRIGHT*SMILE, t A late report from the manager says:— lam keeping on stripping reef in stupes and driving on reef, and only breaking down quartz where I cannot get on without doing so, as I require to timber-up drive as I carry leading stope along. As yon know, my hoppers are full, and any quartz I break I have- to deposit on the ground. I had to break quartz in leading stope yesterday to put in some timber. The leader is about eight inches, thick, and showing gold. I hope to have a good brushing. _______________
