The Hon. Evelyn Ashley, Under S&sy. for the colonies, stated in the House of Commons to-day, in reply to a question, that Sir Thoal Mcllraith, the Premier of Queensland 'had telegraphed, to the Colonial Office, that strong discontent prevails in the Colony, at the. decision arrived at by the Imperial Government, on the question of the proposed annexation of New Guinea. 4 The Secretary added that the Government still consider the proposal premature.
