There is ample room for a well-organised new line between Auckland and London, Liverpool and Glasgow, with New York, and with some of tbe large** centres of Continental Enropean trades. Of course, the large and increasing export of balk" and sawnrtimber will form an important adjunct. The Company do not propose to limit th'emaehres to, running their own vessels, but will from time to time charter vessels when required, in the event of their own not being immediately available. . Messrs,Btoße Bros.,£who have for some time carried on a good shipping business, and who have now fairfy started a new London line, possess the nucleus of a fleet suitable for commenoirig operations, afld • arrangements have been made to'takVover 'their vessels and the goodwill of their shipping business for the sum of thirty thousand six hundred and fifty pounds (£30,650)/they taking half the amount in Company's shares. Tbeir, fleet, consisting of 8 vessels, with aggregate tonnage of 2642 tons, should be augmented as'soon' "as possible, so ' that the business' may be extended without | delay, especially the London and American branches.' Stone, as managing director, and■ the staff at,present,under hia control, who are experienced* in this line of business, have been' secured to take office under the nefw/Company. It is further proposed that •he working expenses should be conducted on strictly economical principles, tbe expense' of agencies aud branches to be defrayed out of commisnona on the actual freights earned by those branohea. The proposed capital is set down at £160, 000, but at only a small portion is required at present for the purchase of the existing fleet and contingent expenses, further capital will not be called up unt 1 vessels suitable for the London and other trades may offer for sale at easonable prices,: until which time, it ia proposed to charter Tassels as required to supplement the present fleet. It is proposed to invite all Auckland busi-ness-men and all who may have any interest in the trade of our pori to take Shares in this local Company, and to give the undertaking every possible support. The Company would thus be ia a measure self-supporting, and strong enough to compete -mote successfully with, any outs de or foreign company or foreign shipping.
