WELLINGTON.

This day.

The electric light was tried in Parliament for the first time last night; The large new corridor, and the lobbies around the House were lit. The object of the trial was to test the dynamo generating machine, driven by a gas engine. It was not a success as the circuit was not complete. The lights in the Honse of Representatives were not lit. The light was dear of course, but by no means steady. What has been described as a good find of gold has been cut at Terawhiti in the Golden Crown Company showing gold yery freely. Of course the effect on shares and shareholders is as usual in such eases.
