ANOTHER CHANNEL WRECK.
25 Lives Reported to be Lost. [Reuteb's Telegrams.] < London, June 25. l^ewftihisjwea received here that the ships "izarunui and Waitara, both oatward bound for New Zealand, came into collision in the Channel, and that the latter vessel sank in four minutes. Twenty-five lives have been lost by the catastrophe, , A Christchurch telegram states that the vessels collided and the Waitara sank; only sixteen of the passengers and crew were saved, including the Master, Chief Officer, and an apprentice. Twenty-five of the passengers and crew, including an apprentice named Cotterall perished. The Hurunui put back for repairs. .The Waitara was bound for Wellington with a full cargo. • ; A telegram to the New Zealand Shipping Company's Wellington' agents says that no lives were lost.
