The Supreme Court sat till nearly 10 o'clock lastnijjht hearing the charge against XTaera te Whera for the murder of a native chief on the East Coast. A verdict of manslaughter was returned, the jury deliberating for half, an hour. Sentence was deferred till this morning, when His Honor pesscd sentence of, penal servitude for life. The Court is; how silting in banco." The cases are likely to last several days.
