OUR MINES.

LONDON.

In shooting down the stringers on the footwall of the No. 1 reef in the east drive, at No. 3 level this morning, a couple of. pounds of* good stone were bagged, the gold being well through the quartz, which also carries favorable minerals. None of the main reef has yet been taken down. QUEEN OF BEAUTY. Cleaning up took place at the battery this morning, and the return, after melting, was lolozs lOdwtsgold. The quartz from the bottom level shaped well lately, and the last 26 loads treated gave 200ozs of amalgam. The dirt now being crashed is coming from the

stopes and the drive on the Qu^en of May reef, and it is shaping for a similar yield to. the parcel just treated, though no gold is seen in the stone. The Queen of May reef is two feet in width, and is looking well. The quartz from the western drive at No 10 level will be treated separately. MOANATAIRI. A start has been made to run out the debris j^hich slipped into the Redan shaft last week, through the main tunnel, and the manager expects to have the shaft clear in a day or two. Stopmg will then be commenced on the No. 9 reef. The battery started this morning, there being plenty of water, as the Alburnia mill is stopped, and crushing will be continued with two shifts. KURANUI HILL The southern crosscut from the prospecting shaft has been advanced 42ft, and the country, which is a favorable white sandstone, is now becoming more solid. Two small leaders were passed through last week, but "nothing was seen in them. Hunt's! reef may now be met with any day. Northward the cross cut is only in 21 feet, and has hitherto passed through very hard shooting ground, but a change for tho better is coming in in the face, Barry's reef is yet fully 40ft ahead, but from the fact that gold was see'a m it where cut in the reservoir, there is a good chance of finding payable crashing dirt in this direction. Stoping is being continued as usual on Cook's leader above the 80ft level, and colors are seen in breaking down. QUEEN OF ENGLAND. The No. 1 reef in the eastern drrve is now stripped for a length of 31 feet, and westward it is stripped for 15 feet. In both digs a capital class of country is in the face, though it has been tight westward. GOLD RETURNS. AiißtmNiA—Whitaker and party have crushed 12 loads at the company's mill for the good return of 48ozs. 17dwts. melted gold. •
