AUCKLAND.
This day
Ec the Opera House fracas, it appears it was a cabman who caused the disturbance at the stalls door. A constable threatened to put him out, at the same time making use of strong language. Browning remonstrated with the constable, when the latter seized Browning and Earl, and all three fell down.the steps. The constable was struck on the mouth as he fell, and as Browning got up he struck him a severe blow on the eye. The evidence, however, is likely to be very conflicting.
The Inspector of Schools is advised to use more temperance lesson books in the Board schools.
The report of the Committee re the Grrafton School scandal exonerates Mr Talbot.
