Secbetab*, pbotbk.s JVC. Berger. The object of this Company is to provide tonnage suitable to the growing trade of the Port of Auckland, so that the imports »ndL exports of our city may be as much as possible carried in iocaily owned vessels, and the shipping business carried on by a lOßßti*' 10CA1 COMPANY. .:; The rates of freights current in this colony compare most favorably with those ruling in neighboring colonies, and are as a rule luffi- , ciently remunerative to leave a good profit, trading hence eifcer foreign or intercolonial. The acknowledged dsily increasing coramermercial importance of Auckland is a source of gratificafon, and thb shipping trade, under Bkilful management, and with -sufficient capital, would meet with" speedy..and great development with many parts of the World with which we are at present not in absolutely direct communication' Tbe object of this Company is to provide vessels to trade in the directions already opened, and others which may from time to time offer inducements. ■"-*■■_.'-i There is. ample room for a well-organised^ new line between Auckland and London, Liverpool and Glasgow, with New York, and with eomo of the lafiK* centres of Contioental Enropean trades. "^<u**ourse, the largo and increasing export -.^i^ij^- and sawn timber will form an importanJkidjanct. A trade with Tasmania, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Ac, being already established, could easily be continued with regularity, whilst the Newcastle and Greymoutb coal trades should bo also provided for. ™. There is a vast field in prospective for a good tradej with A erica, Mauritius, Chiaa, Manilla, Calcutta, The Cape, Noumea, and numerous foreign poris, with some of which. , even at the present moment, a profitable direct trade is being carried on in a desultory manner, and which would find support from the new industries lately established here and in prospective establishments. The Company do -nob propose to limit themselves to runcicg their own vessels, but will from time to time! charter vessels when required, in the event of their own not being immediately available. ' Messrs Stone Bros.^wbo have for some time carried on a good shipping business, and who have now fairly started a new London line, Dossess the nucleus of a fleet suitable for com* mencing operations, and arrangements have been made to take over their vessels and the goodwill of their shipping business for the sum of thirty thousand six hundred and fifty pounds (£30,650), they taking half the amount in Company's shares. Thtir fleet, consisting of 8 vessels, with aggregate tonnage of 2648 tons, should be augmented as aoon as possible, so that the business may be extended without delay, especially the London and American branches. The servic s of Mr C. B. Stone, as manuring director, and the staff at present under his control, who are experienced in this line of business, have been secured to take office under the new Company. : It is further proposed that the working expenses should be conducted on Btrictly economical principles, the expense of agencies and branches to be defrayed out of commistions on the actual freights earned by those branches. The proposed capital is set down at £150, - 000, but as only a small portion is Kquired at present for the purchase of the existing fleet and contingent expenses, further capital will not be called up untl vessels suitable for the London and other trades may offer for sale at »easonable prices, until wbioh time it is proposed to charter vessels as required to supplement the present fleet. . It is proposed to invite all Auckland busi-ness-men and all who may have any interest in the trade of our port to take Shares in this local Company, and to give the undertaking every possible support. The Company would thus be in a measure self-supporting, and strong enough to compete most successfully with any outsde or foreign company or foreign shipping. The Company could then not fail to be a crodit to our port, and a most lucrative inveotment to Shareholders. The promoters having every confidence in 'the success of the undertaking, nojr Appeal to the public to ensure it by subscribing freely for Shares. ; ; : LIST OF VESSELS. ; . ■ ; Tons .-... • ..,.•- , .egister Laira, Iron Barque •„■".,■ ... 492 Alceslis, Iron Barque ... „. 393 Stanley, Wooden Brigantine ... 351 Parnell, Wooden Brigantine ... 318 Caberfeidh, Wooden Barque ... 333.
