It appears that after escaping he stole a horse from a Kemuera settler. Among his effects a pistol was discovered. The prisoner is 22 years of age. Priestly, who was tried for the murder of Hugh' Hamilton, writes to the Herald denying the statement made in the Northern Wairoa Gazette, that he stated he believed Mrs Hamilton knew all aboat Hamilton's death.
