NEW PLYMOUTH.

• This day. Captain McArthur, of the steamer McGregor, was summoned for having on the 6th April carried a greater number of passengers in his steamer from Waitara than he was allowed by certificate. The charge was admitted, but it was stated that an extra number of natives, who came on board, was not found out until the vessel had started. He was fined 9s, and a shilling for every extra passenger. The steamer Orefci landed a cargo of cement at the breakwater this morning. Although a strong easterly gale was blowing, and the sea was rough outside, the water inside the breakwater was perfectly calm.
