Tauranga Mails.
SUPPOSED LOSS OF THE DRIVER. Information' was received in town on the; 23rd ult. that it was reported, a boy about 15 years of age, son of Mr Robertson, the contractor for the conveyance of the mail from. Thames to Tauranga, was drowned in crossing the Waihi River. Constable Law proceeded to search for the boy, and search parties also went from Paeroa and Owharoa. It is feared that the boy is lost. The following are the latest telegrams to hand :— i: Paeeoa, April 24. Search parties from Owharoa went out yesterday afternoon. Mr Walsh, of Owharoa, has returned with a cushion of the mail" buggy; no trace of the boy or the mail bags has been found. Bradley and Ferguson have started to search the bank of the river.. Later. The buggy and pair of horses have been : recovered about a mile and a quarter below where the accident occurred. The boy's name is Downey; he is the son of the Tauranga coach-driver. The mails are still missing. The Latest. 430 p.m. The mailman has arrived, and previous reports are confirmed that Downey was drowned yesterday. The bodies of the horses have been found, but that of the mailman, or the mails, have not yet J been recovered. j
