DENTON ON SPIRITISM.
(To the Editor of the Evening Star.)
S lE) —Observing an extract in your journal of Tuesday last as above, allow me to say that I.and many others als^,ha*e investigated spiritism, only, from an entirely different stand point from that of Denton. We quite believe in the spirits and in the superior powers they possess to those of mankind. These beings are not men and women, as Denton believes, but beings of a superior order to manWbd. These beings ar in the letter of Jude (New Testament) as angels, who left their appointed, or proper habitation, it may be because it was, as they thought, too hot or too cold, or there may have been some other reason. Who can r tell ? At any rate in this change of residence they disobeyed the celestial mandate, and found their way to this orb we call earth, where they hare been a pest to it and itr inhabitants for now over 6000 years. ThfT first act of their chief was to pollute Eve*, the mother of all mankind, and from that, time to the present, one way or another, they have done little else but deceive, pollute, and lead astray the whole human race evidently with a view; to (heir ultimate destruction. They will yet become a still greater pest ere they are entirely cleared out by Almighty Power,. I have no hesitation in asserting that they are all frauds, from Satan their leader down to the most insignificant imp amongst them, and so are all the sons and-daughters of mankind who believe in them and follow their leadings. It may be that such, from want of knowledge are deceived and deluded, but that fact makes no difference, still they are frauds, and not. to be followed by the knowing ones of mankind. The fraud of these evil spirits-in these days consists in making mankind believe that they, the spirits, when they appear are simply the relatives and friends of those who observe their antics and hear their iies about a world beyond the grave which in reality does not exist.it is simply a myth of paganism. So, also, is it an untruth that mankind can leave their graves at all until Christ, who is the Resurrection and the future life, commands them to do so. Herein, then, is the deception of these evil spirits who roam about the earth at the present time. The whole thing .is.-.a., fraud upon mankind to entice men and women from the path of truth and righteous • ness that their destruction may follow, in order that these evil spirits may retain the occupancy of this orb, w^ich was originally, given by the Deity to Christ and mankind in general. King Saul, very many centuries ago, having been forsaken by the Deity because of his evil practices in ruling Israel, in his dilemma applied to these evil spirits for advice, and received a well merited rebuke, himself and his many sons coming to grief shortly afterwards, while David, the man after God's own heart, who was an eminent type of Christ in his kingdom, reigned in his stead over Israel. The now kings of the earth in their present dilemma, are all resorting like Saul to these evil spirits for advice and counsel. Saul was but a type of these present kings, and like vSaul, for their temerity in consulting spirits instead of the Deity they will very speedily lose their crowns and their kingdoms; It does not require great foresight to see that this event is close at hand, They will come to destruction with all their, surroundings, no hand being powerful enough to save them. The Deity in celestial counsel has decreed to Christ the kingdom of this orb—the earth. The mandate has gone forth that Christ shall rule mankind in righteousness for ever. These evil spirits know this, and tremble before the omnipotent decree. Moreover, they know also that the moment is just at hand for Christ to receive His Crown and His Kingdom. They will not allow this without a tremendous struggle to retain their usurped acquisition, hence they are now putting forth among mankind all the power they possess; in various ways we see this, and their power is not small, it] is more mighty than the power of man, but as nothing compared with the omnipotence of the Deity of the Universe of orbs. The object of these evil spirits is as we have said, to retain possesion of the orb they have so foully usurped and invaded ; their object is further to prevent the Christ of the Diety, towhom by celestial mandate it rightly belongs, taking possession thereof. The folly of such proceeding is manifest, for who can fight against Deity ? Yet their malice is so great against Christ that on they proceed, but to certain defeat and overwhelming destruction. The set period —6000 years—during which man's trial with these evil spirits was to continue has now expired, hence a change. It has been proved beyond doubt, to those who know, that mankind ia the mass are no masters of these demons, but rather, they yield to their seductive blandishments daily and hourly, and more so as the set time comes, to place Christ cm Iho throne of the earth that it shall hi ruled in strict righteousness, a condition of things mankind has never yet witnessed* and never can witness while these demoe^ rule mankind. Those who live, therefore, may now speedily expect to see tremen* dous events taking place both in the heavens and on the earth, the demons in human form being largely engaged in producing these untoward events. Delay much longer is impossible, for the Deity never changes or delays His purpose when the exact moment in His mind has come to make the great change in all terrestial arrangements so long predicted by His prophets and Apostles. He has been long-suffering that none may perish, but cannot change celestially appointed times and seasons. The tremendous events at hand have already the most «tartling fore« shadowings in the numerous terrible tragedies of every shade and hue now occurring among mankind all over the earth ; these are only the beginning of the smash up of every vestige of the kingdom of Satan and his hosts of evil spirits. His kingdom being a house divided against itself . his demon agents will everywhere destroy their own works and fight to the bitter end in disputing the celestial right of Christ to possess his appointed inherit tance, while whole masses of foolish men and women and boys and girls ■ will espouse the rotten cause of the Demons and fight with them, We fear that many who now profess to understand revelation's sure word will be among ft he espousers of this rotten cause and dispute the right of Christ to the throne of the earth. If so, they can never see that glorious kingdom. The above is no ideal sketch, no flight of diseased fancy
avch as Emanuel Swedenborg's dreams visions, and serial ramblings, but sterling Bible Tbttth.
