The poll on the question of the £10,000 loan for roads and bridges in Cook County resulted in its favor, only eighteen votes being recorded against it. For the next loan, the Borough and County will make joint application for the construction a bridge over the Turanganui river, at the foot of Gladstone road, Gisborne, as it is a much needed work.
His Hxoelleney the Governor has notified the Mayor that he will visit Gisborne on the 28 inst. The inhabitants intend according him a loyal welcome, and the existing harbor difficulties will be pointed out.
The rain has again set in; this autumn has been wetter than many winters.|
