This day. At the Salvation Army meeting yesterday 125 converts took the Communion.
The inquest on Begley, killed through the collapsing of a drain at Parnell, returned a verdict of " Accidental Death," adding a rider that a drain over five feet deep should be timbered.
It is rumored that Mr George intends resigning the Rodney seat, and that Col. Colbeck is desirous of re entering Parliament. .
An adult was baptized by immersion at St. Matthew's Anglican church yesterday. The following weights have been declared for the Waikato Stakes st the Te Awamutu Birthday Meeting :—Rewi, 9st; Victoria, 7st 71bs ; Clover, 7st 71bs ; Miss North, 7st 71bs; Blue Peter, 7st 71bs; Kaikorari, 7st 7lbs ; Victor, 6st 81bs ; Fisherboy, 6st.
