THE BOY WITH HAIR LIKE HEAVEN.

A Salvation Joke.

The branch of the Salvation Army in South Australia appear to be quite equal to the parent body in regard to the sensational character of its announcements. Recently flaring placards appeared in Adelaide announcing a " Monster Holiness Meeting," in which the following were prominent lines:— Wai! War! War! Blood and Fire ! Hallo ! Hallo, Jack! What's up! Look here ! The Salvation Army Is going in hotter than ever against Drink, Sin, and the Devil. Amen " It was further announced that— " Inside Town Hall Major Barker will lead a Monster Salvation Meeting, Assisted by Yorkshire Relish, Captains Bolfe, Colly, Betts, Happy Dinah, And a Host cf Hallelujih Lasses in their Timbuctoo Bonnets. Came, See, the Great Glorious Saved. Amen. Among other "attractions," also a ''boy with hair like heaven " was promised, and in .due time produced by " Captain" Gibbs, who called upon " Zulu Jim " to come forward. Putting his hand upon his curly matted locks, the •' Captain declared him to be the boy mentioned, "look at bis hair, friends," he said;: "There's no sign of parting there, is there ? Nor is there any sign of parting in heaven. (Deafening ' Amens.') So whenever Jim puts his hand to his head he thinks of heaven ?'*

In an average man courage attends good health. Irregular habits, excessive eating and drinking, insufficient sleep, a badly ventilated dwelling place will take the '" edge" off most men, and make them entirely willing to join the army of followers rather then try to be leaders. The man who will get sleep enough, abundance of fresh air and exercise, and nourishing food and will confine himself to habits of sobriety, will find his body expanding, his digestion good, his brain clear, his heart light, aod his spirits buoyant; and he will also find himself not disposed to be cast down by trifles, but ever fresh, energetic, hopeful, and cours ageous.
