At the Land Board to day letters were received from Piercy and the Youngs declaring that they were bona fide settlers, and threatening the Board with a Supreme Court action if the licenses were not issued. These are the Tasmanian purchasers.

The judgement of the court in the " Monarch " case is that the mishap wa» not caused by the default of any person, but by dangers and accidents of the sea. It appeared that due care had been taken. The accident occurred through the unexpected setting in of heavy rollers. Sailed : Fenstanton, for London. Her cargo includes 2,392 bales of wool, and 6,740 carcases frozen meat. Boss Dhu, for Portland, Oregon.
