DUNEDIN.

Saturday. A woman was arrested on Friday night who was found lying in a dirty ditch in South Dunedin with an infant in her arms. Had she not been discovered the infant would no doubt have been smothered.

This day. The solar eclipse was totally invisible at Dunedin, owing to the*cloudy weather. Dunedin Divorce Court In the Divorce Court to-day a decree for a judicial separation was granted iv the case of Lawlor v. Lawlor, on the application of the wife. The respondent had been convicted in Auckland of bigamy. In the case of Frederick v- Margaret Godfrey and Samuel Webb, evidence of adultery was given. His Honor said on the marriage being proved, he would grant a decree nisi. In that of Ann McGinn v. William McGinn, His Honor made the discovery that a copy of the petition had not been filed with the Attorney General. Mr McGregor, for the petitioner, said he was not the solicitor in the case, and asked permission to withdraw the petition. His Honor: " Certainly ; the petitioner has a very good cause of action agaiust her solicitor for negligence." In none of the cases were the respondents represented. At the Police Court Winter is being proceeded against for embezzlement.
