Sydney, Yesterday. Parliament was prorogued by his Excellency the Governor to-day. In the course of his speech Lord Loftus stated that the revenue of the colony was very satisfactory, and was fully realising the Treasurer's estimate. Melbourne, Yesterday. At the meeting of the Victorian Eacintr Club, to-day, it wits decided to add 1000 sovereigns to the Melbourne Cup, making ]500 sovereigns added oinney, and that the winner of the "Victorian Derby must carry 71bs penalty for the Melbourne Cup. It was also decided to withdraw the Champion Stakes from the programme of New Year's Day Meeting, iand to substitute in its place two races, to be called the Bagot Stakes and Standish Plate, the winner of the latter to receive 500 sovereigns. The race for the Champion Stakes is hereafter to be run at the Autumn Meeting in March, the added money being, as at present, 1000 sovereigns for the first horse, and 200 for the second.
